Sony Pictures has sent over the brand new trailer for 2012, the upcoming disaster movie from uber-director Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, 10,000 BC). The film sees massive natural disasters destroy much of humanity, and boasts an impressive cast including John Cusack, Thandie Newton, Amanda Peet, Woody Harrelson, Danny Glover, Oliver Platt and Chiwetel Ejiofor. The Road

Long day's journey...

The works of novelist Cormac McCarthy are proving to be something of a gold-mine for modern filmmakers. Back in 2000, actor-turned-director Billy Bob Thornton took on McCarthy's Western All the Pretty Horses, and in 2007 the Coen Brothers found Oscar glory with their take on his thriller No Country For Old Men. Following in their footsteps is Australian director John Hillcoat, who breathes cinematic life into McCarthy's unique Armageddon fable, The Road. It's a spine-tingling premise, brought expertly and faithfully to the screen.

Sin Nombre

It's a rare thing to witness a film debut as blistering as this one from young American filmmaker Cary Fukunaga, particularly one that handles such a difficult subject with both skill and intelligence. Set in the ganglands and slums of Honduras, Sin Nombre is tough to watch but a powerful piece of cinema nevertheless.
