Directed by Michael Mann (Heat, Miami Vice), Public Enemies tells the true story of John Dillinger (Depp), the charismatic bank robber operating during America's Great Depression. He becomes the number one target of J Edgar Hoover's (Billy Crudup) brand new FBI, and the organization's top agent Melvin Purvis (Bale) is put on the case. But Dillinger is a national hero to everyday Americans who blame the banks for the Depression and, as he runs rings around the FBI, Hoover makes the gangster America's first Public Enemy Number One...
